Hockey Wales has been a proud member of the International Hockey Federation since 1927, along with 126 other nations. Wales is committed to supporting the ideals of the organisation and promoting hockey to as wide an audience as possible.

Wales forms one of 44 other nations to be a part of the European Hockey Federation. Competing in the EuroHockey Championships and Club competitions, as well as having staff and volunteers on various boards and committees, Wales ensures it has an active voice in the Federation.

Hockey Wales is a proud member of the Great British Hockey team that competes at the Olympic Games. In 2012 we were proud to see Wales’ own Sarah Thomas win a bronze medal at the London Games.

Commonwealth Games Council for Wales

Commonwealth Games Council for Wales

Hockey is one of the Commonwealth Games sports and we are delighted to have sent both Men’s and Women’s teams to Glasgow for the 2014 Games. Hockey Wales President, Anne Ellis, is also the Chair of the Commonwealth Games Council.

Hockey Governing Bodies

We work closely with the other hockey National Governing Bodies from England, Scotland and Ireland to improve and promote the game of Hockey as wide as we can. We also compete against these teams in friendlies and in competitions across Europe.

Leagues and Competitions

Wales is proudly represented in Hockey leagues in England and now in Europe. As well as this, Wales has three main regional leagues, North Wales Men’s, North Wales Women and the South Wales Leagues, teams from Wales also compete in regional English Leagues like the Davis Wood League in South Wales.
