WOMEN'S WELSH CUP - semi final results
Saturday 17th May
| Howardian | 3 | Swansea | 4 |
| UWIC | 1 | Welshpool | 0 |
In the first of the Women's matches, Rhondda Cynon Taff based Howardian's nearly upset the odds in taking the lead on 3 separate occasions only to pegged back each time by EHL team Swansea. Howards' Emma Winch opened the scoring after 9' when following up her own shot to tuck away the rebound. They held the lead until just after half time when Sian Fowler put away a penalty corner. 5 minutes later and Charlie Robbins scored from another penalty corner to regain the slim advantage. Claire Halliday dragged Swansea back level before Mari Williams scored Howard's third. With 2 minutes left Sarah Sloane converted another penalty corner and with Swansea mounting a last minute attack, they won a further penalty corner which was safely despatched by Sian Fowler to break the Howardian hearts and take Swansea through to the final.
In the final they will meet UWIC who also had a very close match against Welshpool. The North based club had the majority of chances in a open game but could not find the finishing touch. This proved to be their eventual undoing as a penalty stroke awarded in the penultimate minute was coolly converted by Emma Richards. It proved to be a successful two matches for Tony Nichols who had coached both UWIC and Swansea to the final where he will now take a back seat.
