DAY 1: Friday 10 April 2009
Penarth went down 12-0 to Victorya Smolevichi from Belarus, who proved that they were indeed aiming to regain their place in the Cup Division. They used both pace and accurate arial play to undo the Penarth defence. Charlotte Perry made crucial saves to keep Penarth in the game as the Belarus team put tremendous pressure on goal.
There were some notable performances from the Penarth side - Bridie Davies proving that she is very capable of competing at this level - one that the club is not exposed to regularly. Penarth relying on the counter attacks, made several raids into the oppositions 25 resulting in a one on one with the keeper by Caryl James - a yellow card and a short corner gave Penarth the opportunity for a consolation goal when a penalty stroke was awarded, but they were denied by an excellent save from the substitute goalkeeper.

DAY 2: Saturday 11 April 2009
The 2nd day of the tournament saw Penarth meet the Irish champions who are looking to regain promotion this year having had a very successful season at home. As expected, Pegasus were able to bring agression and speed to the game - which was matched by a very determined and disciplined performance by the Penarth defence and midfield, however they were outdone by the pressure from the Irish side and found themselves down 2-0 at half time.
Another superb display of goalkeeping from Charlotte Perry kept the Penarth side in the match until the latter stages of the second half, when Pegasus reaffirmed their superiority with 3 quick goals. The Penarth team can take heart from this performance and will go into the final play off day on Monday a more confident side.

Day 4: Monday 13 April 2009
Penarth started determined to prove that they deserve a place in the Trophy Division. A combination of direct play and pace had the Czech team on the back foot. Despite this early pressure, Penarth were denied an early lead by some ferocious tackling resulting in no score at half time.
The Czech team adopted a more attacking approach and took the lead in the 45th minute. Penarth responded with positive and constructive play and used their pace to put pressure on the Czech defense resulting in an equaliser by Donna Williams.
Penarth continued to pressurise and were rewarded with a penalty stroke in the 69th minute. A cool Kate Morgan slotted the goal to secure a deserved win for the Welsh side and maintain their place in the Trophy.
