Day 1: Friday 3 June 2011

Wales women played their first game against hosts Scotland in the Celtic Cup and got off to the worst possible start in conceding an early goal after just 2' when the Scots scored from their first attack. In the 10' the Scots doubled their lead from their first short corner with a well taken drag flick. Wales in return were unlucky not to score after some good work by the forwards which found the home goalkeeper in good form.
In the second half the hosts were in determined mood and scored their third after 45'. Wales were then unable to convert their first short corner with Scotland taking full advantage with a long ball finding their forward in the circle who deflected home their 4th. To cement the victory two more goals in the last 10' left the home side comfortable victors by 6-0.

Day 2: Saturday 4 June 2011

Ireland scored 4 of their goals from penalty corners to sink Wales to a second defeat.
Goals in the 10' and 25' meant a 2-0 half time scoreline and although Wales did create chances they could not convert the opportunities into goals.
The second half brought a further three goals for Ireland to seal the win.
It has been a tough tournament for Wales with both Ireland and Scotland well into their respective programmes and Wales just starting to prepare for the challange ahead.

Scotland and Ireland will now play the final match of the tournament on Sunday with the hosts knowing that a draw would be enough for them to claim the title.
