Welsh Women's U-16 Schools Championships Finals

The first final of the 2012 / 2013 Schools tournaments was played at Glyndwr University, Wrexham on 21st February with the top eight U16 teams in Wales taking part in a two pool tournament.
Pool A
Some great hockey was played with Tregib winning 2 and drawing 1 which left 1 spot open in the semi-finals. This was in doubt until the final game when Brynhyfryd beat Blaengwawr to finish runners up.

Pool B
All games were end to end play with Bishopston and Croesyceiliog proving better finishers to their attacking play. However if Rydal Penrhos were to win against Bishopston or Croesyceiliog then they would go through but they could not recapture their winning start to the day. Bishopston And Croesyceiliog had to have a penalty stroke competition to decide the winner & runner up, Bishopston being the successful team winning 2-0.

Semi-finals
Semi-final 1: Tregib v Croesyceiliog – what an exciting game! Croesyceiliog took the lead with Tregib equalising late on in the game to force another penalty stroke competition with this time Croesyceiliog winning through 2-0.

Semi-final 2: Bishopston v Brynhyfryd – a great game with play with unfancied Brynhyfryd scoring first and Bishopston leaving it late before equalising 2 mins before time. Another penalty stroke competition was required (this time to sudden death) with Bishopston winning 3 - 2.

Final
Croesyceiliog v Bishopston – the play was end to end with Croesyceiliog have first opportunities to score but Bishopston came into their own in the second half. They finished all square and had to go through another penalty stroke shoot out which was won by Bishopston. Hockey Wales Board Director Rob Williams presented the trophies to the finalists. A great days hockey with Bishopston completing another successful defence of the title.
