It is with great sadness, that we share the news of the passing, of two members of the hockey family in recent days.
Dafydd Bury, aged only 25, passed away on May 2 at the LVS school, Ascot, where he was a philosophy and religion teacher and house master. He played for Wales at U18 level in the UK School Games and despite being only 16 at the time, was one of the squad who won a bronze medal at the 2009 EuroHockey Championships. As well as being a past winner of the South Devon Young Sportsman of the Year, Dafydd was also a respected triathlete and raised considerable amounts for charity when he completed Ironman Switzerland.
Jean Jones, a former senior international full back and member of Newport Athletic Ladies HC, passed away on 22 April. The funeral will be held on Wednesday 17 May at 14:00 at Gwent Crematorium, Cwmbran, NP44 2BZ with family flowers only; donations in lieu to Cancer Research UK.
Our thoughts and sympathies go to family and friends of both Dafydd and Jean.
