Great Britain’s men’s side lifted the Azlan Shah Cup for the first time in 24 years this weekend; defeating 9 time champions Australia in a thrilling final.
Without a tournament title win in Malaysia since 1994, the final capped off a fantastic week for Great Britain as they got their hands on the trophy after some fine performances.
Celebrating with the Great Britain team for the first time in 12 years is Welsh player, Dan Kyriakides, who played his part in a new look squad that played fantastically well throughout the week long competition. The Swansea born defender who recently announced a move to Reading Hockey Club played his part in helping the team to victory this weekend with a 4 - 3 win over reigning champions Australia.
Dan told us "The Azlan Shah Cup has been a really good experience for me, and to win the gold medal feels unbelievable. It was a close final but we defended very well to get the win".
The game, which took place in Malaysia this weekend came to a nail biting finale with the Kookaburras putting on some last-minute pressure however the GB defence held out to bring home the trophy.
