NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: JUNE 2010

Autumn PDC timescales announced

The Welsh Hockey Union Performance Development Centers (PDCs) for the under 15 and 17 age groups will run from week commencing Monday 6 September through to the end of October culminating in the PDC competitions during half term.

PDCs are part of the WHU Talent Identification national network designed to provide a quality training environment for young players with potential. By this, we mean young players who already play competitive hockey, ideally at a club or school and who have a good grasp of core hockey skills e.g. hitting and stopping a ball, passing and moving with the ball. Each PDC is linked to the WHU's four Regional Hockey Academies, which provide the main feed into the Welsh junior international squads. There are currently 11 PDCs across Wales.

Players can be nominated by either their school or hockey club. Nomination forms will be sent to all schools and clubs at the beginning of July.
