The EuroNations trophy staged at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff has been a roaring success. The organising committee lead by Whitchurch Chair, Roger Harris, received accolades galore for their organisation and support. A partnership with Whitchurch Club, Welsh Hockey and Sport Wales proved the right blend in delivering a top class tournament. Everyone was entertained at a first-class reception by the Lord Mayor of Cardiff on the first evening.

Cardiff boasted two clubs in the multi-national tournament, both having been promoted from the division below last year. On the pitch Whitchurch were disappointed to finish 7th after being in a position to reach the final with just one match remaining, so tight was the competition. By contrast, Cardiff/UWIC exceeded expectations and finished a very creditable 5th with a win over Roma on the final day.
