EuroHockey Nations, Wrexham (logo)The biggest hockey event ever to be held in Wales was officially “launched” at Glyndwr University, Wrexham. The EuroHockey Nations Trophy will take place from 1st – 8th August and will involve eight European Men’s teams including Celtic neighbours Scotland and Ireland. Wales will be pushing for promotion and also a place at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The "Euro Launch" was attended by the Mayor of Wrexham, the Chairman of Denbighshire County Council with a number of dignitaries and Wales Senior Men players. The "Activate" National Primary school area final took place at the launch with the eventually winners being Bryn Collen who will now represent North East Wales at the finals on July 3rd at Newtown. The Mayor of Wrexham, Mike Leatt (CEO of WHU) and Mike Scott (Vice Chancellor of Glyndwr University) all gave speeches before balloons were released by junior players to signify the event being launched.

A fantastic day was had by all with special mention to Glyndwr University who have embraced the hosting of this major events with open arms.
