Hockey superstar at school awards night

Wales and Great Britain international Sarah Thomas joined Welsh rugby international Gethin Jenkins and Paralympic gold medallist swimmer David Roberts at Tonyrefail Comprehensive Sports Award Night last Friday. Sarah was asked to present the hockey awards for the young players who showed promise throughout the school year. It was great to see the range of talent across all ages in the school, not just in hockey but in other sports such as rugby, swimming, dance and even table tennis!
The event was run very professionally and the children seemed to enjoy the night’s proceedings. The P.E. staff, head teacher and school governors all praised the distinguished guests for giving their time up to award the children’s hard work and talent in their sporting achievements. This time is especially busy for Sarah, who is currently in training with the Welsh senior women’s squad for the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi. The final squad has yet to be announced, so all the players will still be fighting for a place on the flight to India.
