National Academy train at Cardiff

The National Academy athletes met at WIS over the late May bank holiday. Young athletes, Katie Howson, Robert Furlong, Rhys Gowman, Alex Humphries and Robert Trem joined the group for the first time linking up with senior squad and U21 members of the Academy.
Put through their paces on Saturday by Julian, all completed the GB physical tests before the heat of the day. There were some notable improvements. On pitch stamina sessions after that added a bit of spice to the morning. The programme continued after lunch with personal presentation and media training with Julie. Pauline Arnold reminded athletes of the lifestyle support available and an evening session on leadership and team building, with a competitive element, of course, rounded the day off.
The second day started with a WHU on-pitch technical session and a Glamorgan University led sports psychology goal-setting afternoon. Academy athletes are also attending the High Performance Centre coaching sessions midweek.
