NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: DECEMBER 2009

New Squad Managers take up appointments and training

The four newly appointed squad managers for the Under 16 and Under 18 squads took up their respective tasks in earnest last week-end during the international age group player assessments held in Cardiff and Swansea. Rebecca Daniels, Penny Demczak, Paul Oliver and Duncan (Hector) McPherson topped off a busy week-end by coming together at the Welsh Institute late on Sunday afternoon for a training and induction session for managers. Whilst they all bring a wealth of experience of involvement in hockey and management of people, it was a most useful refresher and orientation as part of the WHU Performance Team. Using both Sports Council and WHU material, Mary Bainbridge took the inaugural session and was able to draw on her own vast experience as an international manager. Mike Leatt, who was on hand during the session, said: "The WHU is delighted to welcome this new group of highly motivated and well qualified people to take on such an important role in international hockey".
