NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: FEBRUARY 2010

Nominations for 'Unsung Hero' and 'Administrator of the Year' awards required

Welsh Sports Association Unsung Hero Award

The Welsh Sports Association (WSA) works closely with the Welsh Sports Hall of Fame to increase the recognition sport plays within the Principality. The Welsh Sports Hall of Fame was formed to provide a national focus for recognising and preserving sporting achievements by Welsh sportsmen and sportswomen. The Unsung Hero Award is presented to someone who demonstrates a selfless passion and determination for their sport. It may be an official, coach, parent helper, or just one of those people that every organisation needs – the unheralded volunteer who goes about their business without any fuss or without seeking any recognition, but without whom, things fall apart quite quickly.

Welsh Sports Association Administrator of the Year Award

The Administrator of the Year award is presented to somebody whose unstinting efforts as an administrator within their sport makes such a telling contribution. It is awarded to an individual who regularly gives up a large part of their life for the love of their sport and whose work is vital to the organisation of their chosen sporting programmes. This award is presented annually at the Welsh Sports Associations Annual General Meeting (AGM).
