North Wales Junior Hockey report

Colwyn Bay U-11

Colwyn Bay U-13
The North Wales Under-11 and Under-13 Competitions came to a close on Sunday with a day of excellent entertaining hockey played in sunny conditions. Hosts Colwyn Bay put on a great day with the Rydal school venue affording excellent viewing for the large crowd of parents and supporters who in the traditions of hockey offered encouragement and support for some very skilful play. On the day the deserved winners in both categories were Colwyn Bay who were pushed hard by Dysynni who finished second. It was also good to see improving sides from Wrexham and Buckley both of whom have shown the benefit of match practice and competed hard throughout.
This was the final fixture in a series of five played between teams from Colwyn Bay, Dysynni, Llandudno, Northop Hall, Buckley and Wrexham. During the season over 200 children have played in the competition and it is a great testament to the sport that both the quality of play and the sportsmanship throughout was of a very high standard. Undoubtedly this reflects the attitude and efforts of all the coaches which bodes well for the future. Colwyn Bay & Dysynni now go on to represent North Wales in the National finals on 24th April in both under 11 and under 13 categories. Good luck to both teams!
The North Wales Executive Committee would like to thank Rob Williams and Colwyn Bay for an excellent day on Sunday and to all the clubs who have hosted fixtures this season.
