NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: FEBRUARY 2010

Swansea beat higher placed Firebrands 3-1

Swansea's first EHL game back after the Christmas and indoor break was to be a tough contest against mid-table Firebrands. Swansea currently at the foot of the table needed a positive start to ensure their EHL status. A good crowd at Ashleigh road was not disappointed. The first half started at a quick pace as Swansea settled into the game. In the first ten minutes both sides created chances but it was Swansea that came out on top with a well-worked penalty corner scored by Bridget Radice. Swansea took control in the second half creating many chances. A further penalty corner and open play deflection by Bridget Radice for her hat-trick sealed the win. It was an excellent team performance by all involved.

Forthcoming fixtures: 13th February Bath Buccs (A); 20th February Cannock (H) 12.30 Ashleigh Road.
