NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: OCTOBER 2009

WHUA wish Colin Crayford well for the future

Colin CrayfordColin Crayford has been WHUA Chair for about 12 years and has made an invaluable contribution to Welsh Hockey throughout this time.  Besides his illustrious umpiring career, he has campaigned tirelessly for umpires and officials both at home and abroad and has represented the WHUA members on the WHU and GBPOP.  He has brought about many beneficial changes to the running of the WHUA, ensuring its efficiency, fairness and financial security.  He has been the instigator of a number of official documents which are in place today.  He has coached umpires to international standard and has represented Wales at many major tournaments in the capacity of Judge, TO and TD.  His individual achievements are far too many to list here and indeed people would not comprehend the amount of unpaid time and effort he has put towards the promotion of Welsh hockey, not only for umpires and officials but encompassing all hockey in Wales.

Yes, the WHUA will indeed miss his leadership, and as sorry as we are to see him go, we wish him well for the future.  There is no escape however, as no doubt we will be meeting many times on and off the pitch for some time to come.
