NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: OCTOBER 2009

Wales Men off to New Zealand next month

Captain Matt Ruxton will lead the Welsh Squad into the World Cup Qualifiers in Invercargill, New Zealand next month. The squad selected after training last Sunday is on our Welsh national Squads - Senior Men's page. This is another step forward for Head Coach, Zak Jones who will be supported by Manager Nazir Mohammed and Physiotherapist Zoe Grant.

Nazir said: "This squad is a fantastic blend of experience and youth which will help our players develop in a tough competitive environment". Of note, there are 4 players from Cardiff based Whitchurch HC and 6 players coming through from the National Academy in the squad. The players leave on 1 November and more information will appear on the Web Site in the coming days.

The players and management team are raising the funds to support the cost of the competition. Look out for opportunities to support both the Men's and Women's fundraising events which are in full swing. The Women's WCQ venue for February next year is not yet known. If you want more information about fundraising events or wish to support the teams, contact Nazir Mohamed, Peter Swainson or Ellie Munford through the WHU Office.
