NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: JULY 2010

Wales Under-21 Women head for Belfast

The Welsh U21 Team for the Junior Celtic cup to be held in his weekend was selected last weekend. The team is a blend of youth and experience with some of the players having represented Wales at Senior Level. At the other end of the spectrum several young talented players have been included in the squad. The athletes have trained purposefully for the last few months and have had training matches against Swansea, Penarth, the Combined Services and the Seniors. Last weekend they played training matches against England U18s winning one, drawing another and narrowly losing in the final match.

The team is working well under the coaching of Walid Abdo and Cheryl Campling who are new to the international scene and have developed a very positive training environment for the players who are well motivated and keen to learn.

The whole squad looks forward to the challenges of the Celtic Cup and then the Euros in Italy at the end of July.
