Wales Under 21s start the road to Europe

Last weekend, Wales U21 hopefuls gathered at the Welsh Institute of Sport in Cardiff for an assessment at the start of their road to Europe in July. Both the men, less the U21s who were members of the Senior Squad that competed recently in the World Cup Qualifiers in New Zealand, and the women undertook the GB fitness test under the watchful eye of Wales' Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, Danny Newcombe and his team of specialists.

A total of 60 players were then put through their paces by their respective coaching teams; Head Coach Phil supported by Gareth Tyler and Phil Edwards for the men and Amanda Partington assisted by Cheryl Camping and Amanda Ferebee for the women. The Senior Women's Head Coach, Jo Nightingale, was also showing a keen interest in the U21's on show with an eye on the up coming 2010 competitions: GB Super League, World Cup Qualifiers and Commonwealth Games, all leading through to the EuroNations in 2011.

This weekend, the boys and girls assessments, both at under 16 and under 18 level, take place in Swansea and Cardiff respectively.
