NEWS FROM HOCKEY WALES: DECEMBER 2008

Welsh Hockey Union Christmas bonanza weekend!

How many top class hockey activities can you fit in one weekend?! The answer is not enough! This weekend, the Welsh Hockey Union, are pleased to announce that several top class hockey activities are happening all over Wales!

On Friday night, GB Women's Coach, Danny Kerry, will be addressing the National Academy with a 'Beijing and Beyond' presentation at the Welsh Institute of Sport. The National Academy, with new inspiration, will then have a weekend of fitness testing, hockey theory sessions and of course pitch sessions. Joining them at Cardiff, will be athletes hoping to make the first step onto the international ladder, with the Boys U16 Wales trials taking place on Saturday and Sunday.

Another team joining up on Saturday, are the Wales Senior Women who are fitness testing at Glyndwr University in Wrexham as part of their preparation for the Europeans in Rome next July.

And last, but not least, we end the weekend with the first ever RAF Careers South Wales County School Girl Championships. Being held at Swansea Sports Village on Sunday, the top six U14 and U16 County teams from South Wales will play matches against each other to determine who will be crowned County Champions for 2008!
