MEN'S EUROHOCKEY NATIONS TROPHY NEWS : JULY 2009

Wales put down a marker

Wales put down a marker in their 4-1 win over Italy in a warm up match at Wrexham yesterday. Glorious sunshine bathed the pitch and stadium as Wales continued their preparation. Although this means nothing in the greater scheme of things, it was a good confidence builder ahead their first tournament match against Scotland on Saturday. In an early evening game, Scotland lost out to Russia by the odd goal.

The Wrexham Eye is now in place as part of the off pitch build-up for the tournament when Glyndwr University opens for business at 9 o'clock Saturday. Sumo wrestling and gladiators, hockey skills, Techniquest, speed tests and goal scoring are also on the menu of activities for all the family. The sports hall has been converted into the EuroVillage, with more exhibitors arriving later today.
