There were plenty of Welsh Internationals on show at the British Universities and Colleges Championship Semi-Finals held at the University West of England, Bristol this week.

In the Men's Event Owain Dolan Gray was in action for Loughborough in their victory over Bath who, even with the services of Lewis Prosser and Ben Carless were unable to turn the tide. In the other semi, Rufus-McNaught-Barrington and a spritely Ben Edge were part of National Premier Exeter team who pushed aside Oxford, themselves captained by a Wales U18 'Old Boy', Richard Bond.

In the women's event, Sarah Jones had a start for Loughborough with Sian Evans also in the side. Emma Batten was cup tied and had to be content with being manager for the day! They lost narrowly to Durham. Birmingham University, now National Premier league status, knocked in 6 against a Bristol team with a variety of stars, thanks to influential performances from Alys Brooks, Hannah Richardson, Elin Thomas and Becky Slater. This would have pleased the Birmingham coach, Phil Gooderham, who Headed up the Senior Women's indoor team this winter and who also is taking forward the Men's Under 21's to their European Trophy in July.

Mike Leatt, the outgoing Chief Executive (incoming Performance Lead), was on hand to watch the action and thank Richard Bennett, Sports Director at UWE, for the support he is showing to the Welsh girls studying there.

The BUCS Hockey Finals are on the 11 March in Sheffield.
