Whitchurch now 2nd in the Table

Whitchurch continued their impressive run with a well-deserved 3-0 win against third placed University of Birmingham in their latest EHL Conference West encounter. For once Whitchurch started slowly, and it was against the run of play when Jamie Westerman latched on to a reverse stick pass to give Whitchurch the lead after 5'. Whitchurch started to pass the ball around well and midway in the half Rhys Gowman made it 2-0 with a well taken goal from a rebound off the Birmingham keeper. Whitchurch finished the half strongly but did not convert their chances. In the second period a strong run by Mark Whatling led to Jon Collis shooting just wide and then keeper Iwan Williams made a fine save to deny the Birmingham forwards. Whitchurch made the game safe five minutes from the end, a good move between Collis and Westerman was finished well by Gowman for his second and Whitchurch's third goal of the match to seal a fifth successive win
