Welcome to the North Wales section of the Hockey Wales website

It's here! - North Wales Regional Board

Following an exciting transformation to its operational approach, Hockey Wales is seeking to recruit numerous members to the first North Wales Regional Board.

Hockey Wales is the National Governing Body of Sport for Hockey in Wales. VISION 2020, Hockey Wales' Vision presents Hockey in Wales with an exciting opportunity to make a real difference and a fantastic platform to steer our sport in a diverse, dynamic and driven way.

North Wales will play a vital role in delivering the VISION 2020. The realisation of this role will be driven by an exciting new approach within Hockey Wales, one that will mean more decisions being made in the region for the benefit of the region.

The development of the North Wales Regional Board will provide one single body to steer and direct Hockey in North Wales to attaining VISION 2020, while also meeting the needs of the region.

Working with Hockey Wales staff and Board Directors, Board Members will work to secure resources and lead activities to help attain a vision which aims to ensure that Wales is consistently ranked in the top 10 within Europe providing multiple players to GB Olympic squads, that every school child enjoys a quality Hockey experience and that professional and voluntary workforces meet demands.

Hockey Wales are therefore looking to recruit between 2 and 4 Board Members, who have proven experience and success not only at Board and Committee level but also within Business, Local Government, Education, Marketing and Communications and broader sports environments.

This unique opportunity to become involved from the offset provides the prospects of changing the face of Hockey in North Wales. Board Member roles are voluntary with reasonable expenses being reimbursed. Training and support for the role will be provided for the entirety.

North Wales Regional website

This area of the website has been designed and launched as a result of extensive consultation with members and key stakeholders in North Wales. The hope is that this is a one stop shop for all North Wales based information, it should be easier to get information about relevant funding, and key contact details within each local authority. This section should also allow non-members to get easy access of where their nearest hockey participation opportunity is, and who the key contacts are within each club and each recreational opportunity. Information on results and fixtures can be found on the North Wales website www.northwaleshockey.org.uk

There are a lot of changes taking place in North Wales at present, on-going discussions with the regional associations and members to develop a regional board in 2013. We now have a full complement of staff across North Wales with hockey agents across the region driving forward the development of hockey at tier 1 of the Hockey For Life Framework. This is the first time that North Wales has seen so many staff in the region working with members, partners and non-members to implement development in the right area at the right time based on the needs of the region. A one year regional plan has now been launched and the plan can be found under the regionalisation section. Development is an on-going process and does not happen overnight, this is just the beginning of what is to come.

It is hoped you will find this area of the website useful, please contact sarah.latham@hockeywales.org.uk if you think there is any other information that should be added that would be useful.
