Competition Summary

GB Super League

This Annual competition draws together international athletes from England, Scotland and Wales to compete in this prestigious competition. The six teams (six Men's, six Women's) are made up of Prospective and Current International Athletes from each of the countries. The age of these athletes depends on the position in the Olympic cycle as GBSL is a GB selection event. The Welsh Athletes play as the Celtic Panthers.

GB Youth

GB U20's Squad compete in the World Youth Games every year. It is great exposure for young players in the Home Nations to come together and compete in a top level hockey event. Assessment is made from known player performance and discussions between respective Nations Head Coaches and the appointed GB U20 Head Coaches. Squad selection is made at the assessment camp and a final squad nominated after a further 2 camps. The competition is held in January. Players who are not in the final year within this age group but with significant potential may be invited to continue to train with this group as part of their development.

There are currently two Welsh Internationals in the GB Youth Squad: Lewis Prosser and Sophie Robinson.

 

UK School Games

Last year Hockey Made it's first appearance at the UK school Games which was held in Bath & Bristol. The UK School Games is the only Junior Multi Sports Event of it's kind. Teams compete in the round robin hockey tournament from Wales, England, Scotland and Ulster with last years winners being England in both the Girls and Boys Competitions.
England will have to defend their crown on Welsh Soil this year as the 2009 UK School Games will be held in South Wales
