Hockey Wales Awards
Nominations are now OPEN for the Hockey Wales Awards 2023.

These awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and clubs alike who have significantly contributed towards to hockey in Wales.
​
There are nine different categories open for nominations with the process culminating in an awards ceremony at the EuroHockey U18 Championship II-B Girls & Boys tournament at Swansea Bay Sports Park on the 11th July 2023.

Coach of the Year
o This person has contributed to the development of young and/or senior players and has provided opportunities for all to take part in hockey o They may have achieved relative success with their team, and/or shown significant progress of their own personal coaching practice and development o Demonstrates a professional approach to their coaching practice and acts as an inspiring role model to all o This person could be coaching hockey at your club, delivering 4689 in schools or supporting hockey in the community setting

Umpire / Official of the Year
o This person makes a significant contribution and demonstrate a positive attitude with a high level of commitment to hockey in their local area as an umpire/official o This person may be an experienced umpire/official or may be starting their journey as an umpire/official (at school or at youth level) showing a keen interest in the umpiring pathway o Respected by players, coaches and other umpires/officials o This person may not necessarily umpire/officiate within the English Hockey League and/or international level o They have shown improvement in ability and performance over the year o They support and develop other umpires/officials

Youth Club / Section of the Year
o A safe and quality club that provides opportunities across the 7-18-year-old age range o Shown significant involvement in the community and progression with school-club links o Embraces player-centred, development driven, and competition supported philosophy o May have seen significant growth in youth membership over the previous season o Provides appropriate pathways for volunteer, coach and umpire development

Team of the Year
o A team who has demonstrated notable improvements in performance during the 2022/23 season

Contribution to Masters Hockey
o Someone who has made a significant contribution to the running of Masters Hockey o Contributes to making sure Masters Hockey happens o This could be a team manager or coach, someone who volunteers their time to organise competitions

Volunteer of the Year
o Someone that has given up their time to help run hockey in their community, club, school, association or at an event o Contributes to making sure hockey happens o This could be someone who sits on a club committee, administers a league/competition, who transports players to games, provides match refreshments, washes the kit…the list can go on, and all in their spare time o Volunteers in the club or work that contributes to the club, school or community setting development o They are a positive role model that inspires and contributes towards the development of others o They have a continuously positive attitude towards personal development

Inclusion Award
o This person makes a significant contribution and demonstrate a positive attitude with a high level of commitment to inclusivity within hockey in their local area o This can be through any form of on-pitch or off-pitch commitment that enables increased accessibility throughout our sport

Peter English Young Ambassador Award
o Is a recognised Hockey Wales Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum Young Ambassador o Volunteers in the club or work that contributes to the club, school or community setting development o They are a positive role model who inspires and contributes towards the development of others o They have a continuously positive attitude towards personal development o Sponsored by Friends of Welsh Hockey

Club of the Year
o Provides a quality and safe infrastructure o Develops and supports volunteers, coaches and umpires o May have seen a significant growth in membership over the previous season o Shows significant development in the club infrastructure.
