Hoci Cymru are sad to announce the passing of Margaret Jones.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Margaret Jones of Teigrod Tywi.

We would like to offer our condolences to all that knew Margaret, in particular her daughter Alison and family and to all the members of Clwb Hoci Teigrod Tywi.

Margaret touched the lives and hearts of so many. Her passion and dedication to hockey was remarkable, Margaret initially took on the role as Treasurer of Teigrod and was integral to the setting up and running of the club. Starting with one junior side the club is now a a stronghold of youth hockey in South West Wales, Clwb Hoci Teigrod Tywi would not be where is it today without Margaret’s passion and commitment to the sport.

The club will see its first ever senior team established and competing inthe South Wales Women’s League for the 2024/25 season. What a legacy, that the junior hockey club she helped build has grown and developed. As well as her commitment to Teigrod Tywi Margaret used to manage the South West Wales U16 regional team and would often travel across the country to the various tournaments and training.

She leaves a hole in all the hearts she touched, but her legacy lives on through Teigrod Tywi and her daughter Alison.

The family would like to extend an invitation to celebrate the life of Margaret as follows:

Funeral Service at Capel Seion Chapel, Drefach on Thursday 19 September at 11.00am

Family flowers only, for further enquiries, please contact Teifion Sewell, Funeral Director, Awel-Y-Grug, Mynyddcerrig, Llanelli.
