Hoci Cymru is delighted to announce a significant funding grant from the Sport Wales Collaboration Group for Rydal Penrhos School, aimed at enhancing community engagement through the sport of hockey.
This initiative underscores the school’s commitment to working with the local community to better engage with young people and to offer elite sporting facilities in the region.
The funding will be allocated towards the development and enhancement of the astro turf and hockey facilities, enabling greater access for both local sporting teams and the wider community. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote inclusive participation in sports, particularly among young people and local residents.
Hoci Cymru is delighted to have supported this investment. Hoci Cymru’s Director of Development & Participation, Joe Gage, commented:
“I am thrilled to see the partnership between Rydal Penrhos, Hoci Cymru, and Sport Wales come to life through this significant funding grant.
“This collaboration, supported by the Welsh Government and the joint efforts of Hoci Cymru, WRU, and FAW, is a significant step toward our vision to ‘ignite a passion for hockey’ across Wales, creating inclusive spaces that allow ‘ALL to ENGAGE, COMPETE & PERFORM’.
“By enhancing facilities and launching community-driven initiatives, Rydal Penrhos is not only investing in elite resources but also laying the foundation for a lasting legacy in North Wales, directly benefitting local clubs like Eirias Hockey Club and providing them with improved resources to engage, develop, and inspire players of all ages and abilities.”
Principal of Rydal Penrhos, Tom Hutchinson, expressed his gratitude, stating:
“We are thrilled to receive this generous funding from Sport Wales. This investment will not only improve our facilities but also create a lasting legacy for the community.
“We are dedicated to ensuring that our resources are accessible to everyone, and this funding will play a crucial role in achieving that goal.”
In conjunction with Hoci Cymru and local sporting teams, the school now plans to host a series of community outreach programs, including coaching clinics, open hockey days, and workshops aimed at encouraging participation among individuals of all ages and skill levels. These programs will not only enhance sporting skills but also foster a sense of community cohesion and teamwork.
Hoci Cymru urges everyone in the local community to join Rydal Penrhos School in celebrating this achievement and to participate in upcoming events that will make hockey more accessible to everyone.
The school looks forward to fostering a vibrant hockey culture that promotes physical health, teamwork, and community spirit.
