Wales Will Play England in First Match at Hockey World Cup

The full match schedule for the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, India has been announced.


Wales will face home nation rivals England in their first match of the World Cup. Playing on the opening day of competition, the team will play in the first-ever FIH World Cup match hosted at the new Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela.


They play Spain in their second match two days later at the same stadium, before moving to the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to take on hosts India in their final pool match.


Wales Pool Matches at FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup


Friday 13th January – Wales v England – 11:30 GMT Sunday 15th January – Wales v Spain – 11:30 GMT

Thursday 19th January – Wales v India – 13:30 GMT


There will be 44 matches played in total and the final will take place on Sunday 29th January at 13:30 GMT. A full math schedule is available here.
