Hoci Cymru are delighted that three Welsh players and two coaching staff played key roles in securing GB victory in their Elite Development Programme (EDP) test series against Australia U23s.

Betsan Thomas, Millie Holme and Rebecca Daniel all featured in the GB side over the week having been selected to join the programme in January. They were supported by Tom Millington, Wales Senior Goalkeeper coach, and Kevin Johnson, Wales Senior Women Head Coach and performance director.

Launched in September 2017, the purpose of the Great Britain Elite Development Programme is to provide players who have the potential to become medal-winning Olympians of the future the best possible opportunity to achieve their international hockey ambitions.

Three games across a week saw GB secure an early 4-2 victory with a debut goal from Betsan Thomas before Australia levelled the series with a 5-2 victory. Thursday night's decider provided overall victory for GB as they ran out 2-0 victors.

Reflecting on the games Betsan Thomas commented: "Playing for GB EDP over the last week has been an amazing experience! It's been great to play such a strong Australian opposition, and to score my first EDP goal is also an added bonus'
