Alf Dinnie
Alf broke into the Welsh Senior Men’s squad in 2017, following his progression through the age group squads to the Welsh U21s at the European Indoor Championships. The midfielder was introduced to playing hockey at the age of 7 by his P.E. teacher parents back at home-club Ashmoor. He then joined Cardiff & Met, having moved to Cardiff to commence his Sport & Exercise Science degree at Cardiff Met University. He has since completed his Masters and started a Lecturing role in Performance Analysis. Alf has played 5 seasons for Cardiff & Met in the National League and represented the club at the European Hockey League (EHL) and EuroHockey Indoor & Outdoor Championships, winning the Conference West title and EuroHockey Gold. Since making his Senior debut in 2017 against France in Paris, he has gone on to represent Wales at major tournaments, including the European Championship and Commonwealth Games. Most recently, Alf was a member of the Wales squad which gained qualification for their first ever World Cup in 2023! Beating Italy, Ireland and France on the way, the Welsh Senior Men's side now sit in their highest ever world ranking (18th)!
